I am happy to have cooperated with Kvinna Till Kvinna on an important gender assessment of the Berlin Process on the occassion of its 10-year anniversary.
The report “Missing gender perspectives in the Berlin Process” (access through link) has been prepared for a Gender Side Event of the Process – an overdue first – and was equally well-received by policy makers and during the Civil Society Forum in Berlin 2024.
The Berlin Process was initiated by the German government in 2014 as a multi-lateral iniative to enhance regional integration in the Western Balkans at a time of “enlargement fatigue” at the EU’s level. Key priorities have been reconciliation and economic convergence, however with varying success. The report assesses successes and shortcomings through a gender lens.
